Wet Rooms

Sophisticated showering with our stunning wet room range.

Wet rooms are a type of tiled bathroom that come with a shower, minus the enclosure, and the water runs away through a drain installed in the floor. In order to achieve this seamless look in your master bathroom or ensuite, it is essential for the whole bathroom to be waterproofed.

Whether you are looking for a contemporary, modern finish to your new bathroom or renovating your existing traditional style bathroom suite, at Riva Tiles & Bathrooms we specialise in wet room designs.

We have a variety of wet room tile designs readily available from modern to timeless in a variety of sizes, colours and also finishes. We also stock shower trays, shower heads and other bathroom accessories and wares to give your wet room the perfect finishing touch.

Renovations to wetrooms today offer several different routes, depending on various styles, layouts, customer preferences, and contractor choices. There are multiple options available to help you achieve the wetroom design you desire, tailored to your specific needs. At Riva, we are always more than happy to provide advice and support to both you and your contractor to ensure you find the best possible solution that fits your vision and requirements.

There are many different brands of traps and linear channels offering different looks and solutions to waterproofing and drainage flow rate. We supply some of the leading brands like Mc Alpine, Geberit, Tece, iDrain and Eurodrain. These and used usually with a tile but some can also be made with Vinyl flooring. The two main type’s here are what’s know as Square and Linear.

Wetroom Traps & Linear Channels

Then the decision for tiles is weather to mosaic the shower area floor or to envelope with the main floor tile. This depends a lot on the tiler & also customer as installation, functionality and design can be different. With mosaic this can come in anti-slip finish and matt finish but with the additional advantage that because of the grout joint every 5cm2(approx) this can aid grip underfoot. the disadvantage to that is the maintenance the more grout the more cleaning, it can also be easier for the installer to lay mosaic and create the correct falls with mosaic over enveloping a large tile. While using the same floor tile throughout the bathroom floor may be your visual style choice you also have to consider practicalities. If the tile you picked is glossy or polished this will create a very slippy shower when water and soaps are added. Its better if this is the wet-room you want that you choose a tile that is matte and ideally a more gripped tile for example an R10 or R11 (C3)finish. please dont hesitiate to contact our knowledgeable staff or call in to have a look for yourself.

Baseboard Trays are specially designed waterproofing trays that are tiled directly onto the surface. These trays come with a prebuilt fall, ensuring proper drainage, and feature traps that are already installed onto the waterproof tray. This design makes the installation process much easier for contractors and provides a more reliable and efficient solution. They are especially beneficial in situations where the wetroom is located above the ground floor, making these installs a more desirable choice for many contractors due to their practicality and dependability. They also have the options of linear and square traps and can be tiled using mosaic or the larger floor tile. The contractor would then typically use Baseboard sheets to waterproof the rest of the floor.

Wetroom Baseboards Trays

These slate trays have gained significant popularity over the last few years and have clearly become the preferred choice for both contractors and customers when it comes to any upstairs wetrooms in bathrooms and ensuites. These trays are designed with a flat surface and a built-in fall to ensure efficient water drainage. They are available in two attractive colours: white and anthracite, and feature an anti-slip, antibacterial gel coating for added safety and hygiene. They offer contractors the peace of mind typically associated with traditional shower trays, while greatly reducing the risk of leaks since they are manufactured as one complete unit with no joints. Additionally, these trays can be easily cut to fit unusual or custom-sized alcoves, adding to their versatility. Standing at 30mm high, they can be installed to be level with the floor tiles with minimal effort, providing a sleek and seamless finish. The pricing of these units is also a significant advantage, as when considering both installation and material costs, they prove to be more cost-effective compared to building a wetroom from scratch..

Shower seats and niches can add seamless shelving and extra comfort in a wet area without compromising on the sleek, functional look of your shower space. This offers the best of both worlds—practical comfort and stylish, modern design. The shower seats are fully waterproof and, depending on the shape or length you require, can be tiled with mosaic, matching bathroom tiles, or designed to stand out as a unique feature within your shower area. Niches are traditionally tiled, but there are exciting new options available, such as coloured niches that match the tones of your brassware, making installation easier and safer for your contractor. We are here to help you every step of the way! Need assistance in designing your new wetroom or bathroom space? Just ask—we’re happy to advise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have a wet room upstairs?

Yes, there are many different products available today that can give you that wet room effect and protect your house from leaks from movement and broken seals. All the waterproofing goes on underneath the tile, we’ll be delighted to go through the full selection of waterproofing products from matting, baseboards, tanking and tapes in store.
— Martin, Riva Tiles and Bathrooms

Can I have a drench head shower?

Yes but it depends on what shower you have already and what work you are prepared to have done.

A drench head shower is not traditionally an electric shower so if that’s what you have then re-plumbing would be required. It also requires a large volume of stored hot water so it also depends on your hot water storage system(cylinder/immersion).

There are many different ways and systems to use so if you can call in we can go through your options to achieve a drench head shower.
It’s a good idea to take a picture of your shower and cylinder so our staff can be clearer on what system you have.
